We had three medical doctors and four other friends visit for a week. We were very lucky with swell and had a wonderful trip.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_masonry_media_grid grid_id=”vc_gid:1528797661331-a7435903-983c-0″ include=”1445,1449,1442″][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row css=”.vc_custom_1527908216158{padding-top: 15px !important;}”][vc_column][vc_column_text]Of most interest… we performed a clinic in the Coconut Factory run by Ononiha (which is run by Lush cosmetics and an NGO group from Brisbane). With their generous offer of premises we had myself, Dr Mark Gillett (Emergency physician) and Dr James Kerr (Paediatrician). Each of us performed a clinic and many people waited patiently to be seen and assessed. While it was difficult to offer definitive treatments, we could certainly offer some direction.
Perhaps most moving was Dr Kerr, who has vast experience in disabilities of children, offering advice to parents who had essentially no advice for decades of their children’s life. At that stage they were very grateful for any advice offered.
As usual a wonderful time was had by all and our host Raffiel (Revolution) was generous as usual. He and his wife Sari and his wonderful children constantly looked after us and made sure there were no issues at all. We were able to view his old house which it was decided would be converted into a medical clinic.
Since that time the clinic has been equipped and renovated. We are awaiting further refurbishments and then will have accommodation for any visiting volunteers for which we are very excited.[/vc_column_text][nd_options_button nd_options_padding=”15px 25px” nd_options_align=”center” nd_options_font_family=”nd_options_first_font” nd_options_link=”url:http%3A%2F%2Ffriendsofnias.org%2Fgallery%2F|title:View%20Gallery||” nd_options_bg_color=”#d55342″ nd_options_text_color=”#ffffff” nd_options_border_radius=”30″ nd_options_font_size=”16″][/vc_column][/vc_row]
